Swimsuit and bikini Patterns, what are we wearing this summer?

With the holidays approaching, we start looking for the swimsuit that pleases, highlights our assets, and above all, makes us feel good. And this search can sometimes turn into an obstacle course...
So why not sew the rare gem yourself according to our desires and the cuts that suit us best? Sewing a swimsuit is much easier than it seems when you have the necessary equipment. By the way, don't hesitate to read or reread the article dedicated to lycra.

So the first step of this sewing adventure is of course choosing the swimsuit or bikini pattern... Here is a review of the patterns that caught my eye!

Etoffe malicieuse

Etoffe malicieuse specializes in lingerie and swimsuit patterns and it’s a real favorite because Etoffe malicieuse has a very wide range of swimsuits for the whole family. They offer women’s swimsuits and bikinis, men’s swimsuits, but also children’s, all at very reasonable prices (around 9 euros/pattern).

I really like the Calypso one-piece women's model, asymmetrical with its chest ruffle. I find it chic and feminine. We could even make it two-tone with a ruffle in another color.

For little girls, Poema is super cute. What little girl wouldn’t be delighted to have such pretty ruffles on her shoulders?

And for gentlemen and the little gentlemen, the Marin model will be perfect!

Atelier Guillemette

Atelier Guillemette offers us several models of one-piece swimsuits and a bikini.

Let's start with Gaston, this one-piece swimsuit looks quite conventional at first glance but surprises with its low back. The ruffles attached to the straps give it a nice little look. It is available from size 34 to 52 and you can download it for free until 06/30 by clicking here.

You can also find at Atelier Guillemette Lucien, a one-piece with a deep neckline but covered bottom. It is available in sizes 34 to 42 and costs 14.90 euros.

Still in one-piece swimsuits, the swimsuit Joséphine is a vintage-inspired pattern, with high-waisted bottoms and a draped bust. It is suitable for small and large busts. It is available in sizes 36 to 46 for 14.90 euros.

Finally, Atelier Guillemette also offers a bikini called Clovis with a top that ties at the back. It is available in sizes S to XL for the top and 36 to 46 for the bottoms. We would love to sew this pretty bikini in the sparkling Lycra from Lise Tailor available in store, right?

All Atelier Guillemette patterns are accessible at an intermediate sewing level.

Popeline et Linon

Popeline et Linon offers us two swimsuit patterns. Ivani consists of a bralette-style top and bikini bottoms. The bralette is a kind of crossed bra with support. The bottoms are low-rise and tie at the hips. Ivani has an ultra-glamorous and feminine style. Ivani can be worn as a swimsuit, a crop top, or even as underwear. It is available in sizes 34 to 48 for 10 euros. An advanced sewing level is required to make it.

Poeiti is a one-piece swimsuit with a feminine and glamorous cut. It has a pretty cutout and gathers at the bust that form a bandeau bustier. It is backless with adjustable crossed straps for a perfect fit. Poeiti can also be worn as a bodysuit during the day or evening. It is available in sizes 34 to 48 and costs 10 euros.

Maison Victor

In the July/August 2019 issue of Maison Victor magazine, (still available in the Maison Victor shop for 8.95 euros) you will find the great one-piece swimsuit called BahamaWith its pretty draping on the side and a bare back, it is quite original.

Charlotte Jaubert - Lingerie and Swimsuit Book

Charlotte Jaubert is a specialist in creating swimsuit and lingerie patterns. She has published two books on the subject with Editions Mango, which you can find for around 20 euros. I can only recommend them because not only do they gather quite a few patterns but also plenty of illustrated advice with photos to guide your projects. In short, it’s a real goldmine!

I actually sewed my first swimsuit with this book. I chose to make the player in red lycra, for a slightly alert Malibu version, I admit 😊.

Atelier sur le fil

This pattern is called Molitor, a nod to the Parisian pool with Art Deco architecture. The slightly retro style of the swimsuit perfectly matches this famous pool.

Molitor is a one-piece swimsuit with a bare back and a slightly retro cut. It is offered from size 34 to size 46. It includes 2 versions: the original and a more cut-out variation. You will find it only in PDF format for 5 euros by clicking here

You can embellish it with a small chest ruffle as the blogger Basileetleon did for the blue version below.

Here is my little review which is far from exhaustive but already gives a small overview of the models available on the market. Now, all that’s left is for you to make a choice among all these swimsuit patterns that will accompany you by the pool or at the beach.

And you, what are your favorite swimsuit patterns?

Merci pour ces bons plans. Grâce à toi j’ai trouvé le haut et le bas du maillot que j’avais en tête ! Plus qu’à acheter les deux patrons et à les associer. Merciiii 🥰🥰
