The Wonder Mini Skirt by Vanessa Pouzet

Vanessa Pouzet offers us a couture mini skirt with a very original shape.
Indeed, the play of draping on the front allows the creation of 2 pockets, and this without weighing down the figure; which I was a little worried about when tackling this pattern.

Vanessa Pouzet offers patterns only in PDF format at affordable prices, 6.90 euros for the Wonder Mini pattern. After downloading the pattern of your choice, printing is done on A4 paper. The advantage of A4 printing is that it can be done with a personal printer; no need to rush to the copy shop. The disadvantage is obviously that it requires a bit of gluing work to assemble the pattern pieces. In the case of the Wonder Mini, it is quite simple given the number and size of the pieces, this step did not take me much time.

The pattern sheet, once assembled, is clear. The symbols are easy to understand, the notches are placed in the right spots… Vanessa’s instructions are easy to follow and well illustrated, which makes this pattern quite accessible to beginners.
The technical steps are attaching the zipper, making the drape, and assembling the facings.
The making itself is therefore quite simple, although very original. The drape assembly is really very clever and I greatly enjoyed making it.

Vanessa invites us to make this skirt in many fabrics. The point to watch is that the thicker the fabric, the larger the volume of the pockets will be, and this could weigh down the figure by increasing the volume on the hips.
For more originality, you can use a contrasting fabric for the drape. For my part, I chose to make it in a plain fabric but made the pocket lining and the facing in a contrasting fabric. In the photo, I wear it with a top "repurposed" from the Los Angeles dress by the brand Louis Antoinette.

The skirt is offered from size 32 to 48, that is from 54cm to 85cm waist circumference and from 75 to 105cm hip circumference. Being between two sizes, I had to adjust the cutting lines to fit the pattern to my size.
