After having tested Vanille, I had the chance to participate in the creation process of a second pattern from the brand La Petite Frambise.
Since I was looking for a playsuit pattern for the summer, I was delighted when Karolina offered me to test Elsa.
And on top of that, this playsuit can be turned into a dress or pants if you add a bit of length ;-)
I'm really happy to show you my creation!

Elsa is the little playsuit to have for the summer! I was really charmed by the design which is well thought out and full of nice details:
1. there are pockets (which I enhanced with lurex piping)
2. there are small ruffles on the chest and on the straps
3. there are buttons and an elastic waistband that make it easy to go to the bathroom, and that really counts in testing a playsuit ;-) I'm sure you understand me.

The Elsa pattern is available in a duo version, meaning for both little girls and women; this is the signature of the brand La Petite Frambise, which generally offers mother-daughter patterns.
This pattern was created for girls from 4 years old up to size 46.
You can download it on the brand’s website for 12 euros for the duo and 8 euros for the single mother or daughter version.
The seam allowances are included and are 7mm, which makes cutting the pieces easier.
For size choice, it is worth noting that it is more practical to rely on your bust and waist measurements to choose the size to cut. The shorts run relatively large.
For my part, I chose to cut the model in size 36 and it fits well. The only major modification I made was the height, which I had to adjust to my short stature by removing 6cm from the bodice. I advise you to check before assembling the bodice and the pants to avoid having a crotch that is too low.

To sew Elsa, you will need:
- 5 pretty buttons of 12 to 15 mm to close the front
- some interfacing for the button placket
- a 3cm elastic for the elastic waistband
- 4cm bias tape about 1.5m long (contrasting or not)
- piping if you want, like me, to add it to the pockets or why not on the button placket ;-)
- about 1.5 to 2m of fabric depending on your size to make your piece.
I chose to make this model in a pretty cotton poplin from the store Le Chien Vert in Brussels. The buttons come from La Maison Dorée, end of stock.
It is possible to make this model in many other fabrics: a pretty cotton fabric, linen, chambray, denim... basically something to be creative with!

Elsa is rated difficulty level 3 out of 5 by the brand.
It’s true that there are many technical points that make this garment an excellent learning piece.
We will highlight:
- sewing pockets
- assembling a pants/shorts crotch
- making gathers
- applying hidden bias and double-fold bias
- making a button placket
- sewing buttonholes
- making a rolled hem
- hemming
- sewing an elastic waistband.
I must say I really enjoyed sewing all these little details that make Elsa a lovely piece to add to your wardrobe.
